The damage to the steering handles and the missing headlamp unit may indicate this bike has been in a collision – we’ll need to make sure the front fork and it’s mounting on the frame are checked for any dent or bends.

The wish-list after an initial inspection:

Needed new

• All emblems (tank, other)
• Cables
• Exhaust
• Inner & Outer tires
• Brake lining
• Drive chain

Maybe’s, restorable?

• Rear mudguard – Found restored
• Clip-ons (steering handles) – Found used
• Engine covers

Haven’t done any testing on the engine; with the amount of oil on the outside, it will get a complete overhaul anyway. And if not mounted yet, it will get the improved gear rods and 5-plate clutch.
